Sunday August 9, 2010 Mindfulness

Jesus is Lord!  As born again Christians our position is one of abiding in Jesus Christ and entering into the rest of God.  One way to enter into that rest is by watching what we think and say.

Ephesians 6:12 "For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood (contending only with physical opponents), but against the depotisms, against the powers, against (the master spirits who are) the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere."   The devil is a liar, infact God calls him the father of lies of all that is false (John 8:44.)  Satan tries to bombard our minds with nagging thoughts, fears, doubts, reasonings, suspicions and anything else that is of a negative nature.  If you and I accept these thoughts, believe them, and let them play over and over in our minds we will begin to speak them.

"For the weapons of our warfare are not physical (weapons of flesh and blood), but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.  In as much as we refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the (true) knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Annointed One).  2 Cor. 10:4,5  One of our weapons in this "Mind Battle" is the Word of God.  We receive the Word through reading it in the Bible, other books, attending church services,  CDs, DVDs, tapes, going to seminars, and through private and community held Bible studies.

"...If you abide in My word (hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them), you are truly my disciples.  And you will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free."  Jesus says in Mark 4:24 "....The measure (of thought and study) you give (to the truth you hear) will be the measure (of virture and knowledge) that comes back to you...."  We are to continue using the Word of God as one of our spiritual weapons in this (Mind Battle) against the enemy.  Prayer and praise are 2 other spiritual weapons that are available to us as well.  Prayer is going to God and asking for help about something we are in need of, or it can be just talking to and listening to God.  Both prayer and praise involve the Word.
